Cloud and Companies

Cloud, it is the novel  trend  in the IT industry which would have a severe impact  in transform every company in every industry over the next several years. Industry is well aware of cloud, talking much on that topic and keen interest  on cloud computing. So what does it really mean by cloud computing. Roughly, it describes highly scalable computing resources provided as an external service via the internet on a pay-as-you-go basis. The cloud is simply a metaphor for the internet, based on the symbol used to represent the worldwide network in computer network diagrams. Though can be described technically like this, the economic perspective is customers only use what they need, and only pay for what they actually use, making  the business more comfortable to the customers providing them with better opportunities to move flexibility  when dealing with the business .

In today’s  context  it’s obvious that some companies like Apple , Amazon , Barnes & Noble are entering to the cloud space for their customers. It implies that leading companies are also changing their internal business approaches to the cloud environment , because companies just  want to adopt to the wave and try to be stable in the market place and winning the success  in a manner that is to uplift the  consumer side, business customer side and the internal side.

Although the companies aggressively try  to explore the cloud as a stranger ,it’s not. But now  it’s just a changing in perception of the potential of cloud computing  to drive forward their businesses with innovative ,creative and qualitative services with low prices. So now companies have identified the cloud is the winning horse in the race. Cloud computing gives the chance of accessing data anytime from different devices  that can tap into their cloud account, but question may arise with the requirement of security of private information and files which are to be stored in the cloud environment. Any how with the emergence of keen willingness to explore the ultimate benefits of the revolutionary technical  invention of cloud computing the businesses are ready to accept the risk to step for future intention of winning the highest market share.

iCloud in Apple allows customers to store their purchases, data and files on web based computer system instead of their devices. In case of any purchases of customers should connect  to the iCloud account through apple device , which saves it’s file in cloud space,  but this may not much secured considering of attacks and thefts. Here internet connection is a must to access the resources. Giving a solution for  such problems , Amzon has come with a a better approach of keeping purchases in the cloud and it gives way to use what they have downloaded from the cloud even when there is no internet connection  and it is not limited to a particular device but can do it from PC, laptop, smartphone etc…

Even in Sri Lanka there is a high demand and for cloud computing for companies in Banking and credit card industries , Health care sectors etc. In next several  years  cloud will be the emperor  in the IT industry which would show the path for  the companies to expand their market  and to help them to offer internal  cloud services for employees to teach and communicate internally and externally.

Overview of ANDROID

Android has been frequently using phrase in  mobile application context. It is also considered as one of the most popular mobile platform in the world..  In the true sense of the word, ”What is android?”………….

Simply Android is a Linux-based operating system for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. One of the most widely used mobile OS these days is Android. Android is a software bunch comprising not only operating system but also middleware and key applications. Android Inc was founded in Palo Alto of California, U.S. by Andy Rubin, Rich miner, Nick sears and Chris White in 2003. Later Android Inc. was acquired by Google in 2005. After original release there have been number of updates in the original version of Android.

Android was built from the ground-up to enable developers to create compelling mobile applications that take full advantage of all a handset has to offer. It was built to be truly open. For example, an application can call upon any of the phone’s core functionality such as making calls, sending text messages, or using the camera, allowing developers to create richer and more cohesive experiences for users. Android is built on the open Linux Kernel. Furthermore, it utilizes a custom virtual machine that was designed to optimize memory and hardware resources in a mobile environment. Android is open source; it can be liberally extended to incorporate new cutting edge technologies as they emerge. The platform will continue to evolve as the developer community works together to build innovative mobile applications.

Android does not differentiate between the phone’s core applications and third-party applications. They can all be built to have equal access to a phone’s capabilities providing users with a broad spectrum of applications and services. With devices built on the Android Platform, users are able to fully tailor the phone to their interests. They can swap out the phone's homescreen, the style of the dialer, or any of the applications. They can even instruct their phones to use their favorite photo viewing application to handle the viewing of all photos.
Android breaks down the barriers to building new and innovative applications. For example, a developer can combine information from the web with data on an individual’s mobile phone — such as the user’s contacts, calendar, or geographic location — to provide a more relevant user experience. With Android, a developer can build an application that enables users to view the location of their friends and be alerted when they are in the vicinity giving them a chance to connect.
Android provides access to a wide range of useful libraries and tools that can be used to build rich applications. For example, Android enables developers to obtain the location of the device, and allows devices to communicate with one another enabling rich peer–to–peer social applications. In addition, Android includes a full set of tools that have been built from the ground up alongside the platform providing developers with high productivity and deep insight into their applications.
